Town House Museum

The Town House Museum displays the social history and domestic life of Lynn’s merchants, traders and families from Medieval times to the 1950s.  Try your hand at brass rubbing in the Medieval room.  Discover what life was like for those living through the siege of Lynn during the English Civil War.

Visit a Victorian child’s nursery and admire the doll’s house and period toys. Try out the replica toys and games or see what life was like below stairs in the Victorian Kitchen. The room is full of everyday items used by the servants and cook

Sit at an old wooden school desk, use a pupil's slate and imagine going to school in Edwardian times.

Learn how difficult life was for the people of Lynn during the World Wars.  The realities of war were keenly felt by our locals, as it was one of the first British towns to suffer a Zeppelin air raid.

Step into the swinging fifties, relax in an armchair and watch a 1950s television showing archive footage of Lynn.

And remember to take a stroll in the beautiful Victorian town garden complete with privy.
